                                     Biography

This Is My Life.....

Becky Brown was born in Hull, UK on the 9th March, 1981. Christened Rebecca Maria Brown, she is the eldest of three girls to Mel and Angie Brown. She was a very lively, bubbly child and full of mischief. Even at a very young age, she was an exceptionally quick learner.

Kids Say The Darndest Things .....

After a short spell at Stoneferry School, Rebecca went on to Midmere Primary, where she got involved with music.  She attained grade two in Violin and also showed an ability to act in school plays. This was also the first time Rebecca got into the local newspaper (her Uncle Ken once said that she was in the newspaper more times than fish and chips!). At 9 years old she wrote to the Hull Daily Mail expressing her concerns about the soldiers in the first gulf war.  This was published and sent out to the troops.  As a result, she received 40-50 letters from Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen serving in the gulf.  One of the soldiers who sent her a letter surprised Becky by flying over from Germany and landing his helicopter on her school field.

Teenage Kicks.....

So on to Malet Lambert.  Although Becky listened to and sang along to music from an early age, this is the place that really brought it out.  It was possibly the sight of the School hall with its big theatre like stage.  She was always first on it when there was anything going on, be it acting or singing.  By the age of 12 yrs, she bought her first PA system and started singing in the pubs and clubs in and around the Hull area, and also of course on the school stage in dramas and musicals that were put on by the teachers and pupils.  On of these shows was put on every Christmas, and they called in Opportunity Knocks. (Becky always provided the sound system.)  Becky's powerful country style voice was influenced from an early age by country music that was played regularly by her mum and dad at home.  She was singing along word for word to songs that were in the charts, some thirty plus years before she was even born.  She sang these songs in junior talent shows all over Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.  In one particular year she entered and won six contests.  She first won Hull Young Entertainer of the Year, followed by competitions in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Bridlington, Withernsea and the Blue Dolphin Holiday Park in Scarborough.  At this point in time, she was singing country music, and was getting invites to sing on country shows staged in and around the Hull area.

She was only sixteen .....

After leaving school, she had a number of jobs from working in a chemist to making sandwiches in a deli. She never settled in any of them. Performing on stage is where she felt more at home so she took singing up full time, singing solely country music.  Unfortunately, country music is not everyone's cup of tea, so to get more gigs, she had to diversify and sing other styles of music, but still keeping in where possible, as much country as she could.  Becky's style of singing and choice of songs is her own.  Although she picks her songs to suit her audiences, she enjoys singing these songs, which is evident when you see her perform. She thinks that to get the best out of doing something, you have to enjoy what you do, which is why she does what she does very well.  Over the years that Becky has been on the circuit she has developed her own style of entertainment that people like.  She is funny and sometimes cheeky, but never cocky.  Becky will modestly tell you that she has not got the best voice in the world. However, after seeing her on stage, her all round performance is amongst the best you will see.

Little Children .....

Rebecca Brown has now become Rebecca Sainty, after marrying her husband Shaun on the 1st September, 2001 (the day England beat Germany 5-1 in the 2002 World Cup Qualifie.) Becky gave birth to their first daughter Codie Rose on June 17th 2003.  At this point, Becky stopped singing for a while, due to Codie being ill in hospital. After a few months, everything was fine and she returned to the stage. Then on June 21st, 2005, their second little girl Brooke Elise was born.  After a couple of months maternity leave, Becky once again returned to the stage, continuing to entertain audiences in Yorkshire and beyond.
